For sale here is an original vintage 1963 exhibition silkscreen print advertising an exhibition of the serigraphs of Willi Baumeister at the Galerie der Stadt Stuttgart, and printed by Domberger Siebdruck. These exhibition prints were usually done in pretty small numbers, and as most of them were used outside, very few have survived, especially in any kind of condition worthy of display. Measures 24-1/4" wide by 33" long. Excellent condition, with a 3/4" rip at the top edge, which of course won't show when this artwork is hung, and could be easily repaired by an expert if you wish. This artwork has never been framed, and will ship rolled.
This is one of several vintage artworks that I have acquired, along with many other works of graphic art, from the estate of a former gallery owner from San Francisco. The Eric Locke Gallery was famous in it's day for championing the graphics arts by up and coming artists from around the world, and was one of only two galleries in San Francisco at the time that sold graphic arts, the other being the world-famous Gumps. The Eric Locke gallery was in business from 1955 to 1965, though all the artworks were acquired prior to 1964, when the proprietor had a stroke and was no longer able to run the business. After closing the gallery in 1965, these artworks were placed in storage until the present. I acquired these artworks directly from the longtime partner of Eric Locke.
