This German Basket weave miniature dish with its cobalt blue high gloss glaze, and its hand colored transferred black line image, is a wonderful example of tourist souvenir pottery design.
It was made in Germany for the H. G. Woolworth Co. Boston, Mass.
Souvenir items were popular in the late 1800’s through the early 1900’s to commemorate events, places and people. Most of these items were created in European factories for export to the American market. They have continued to be popular with collectors today.
