Offering this exceptionally fine original Italian watercolor by the listed artist Roberto Rascovich. I have included some biographical information at the end of this description. The sight are of the painting (what you see when matted) is 9 ¾ by 12 3/8 inches. Sold unframed. Excellent condition. The painting is signed by the artist in the lower right corner “R. Rascovich, Rome” and most likely dates to around 1890 giver or take a few years. Offered unframed.
As you can see from the images, the handling of light and shadow in the picture is superb. The face of a young maiden filling a water jug is highlighted and contrasted against a dark figure standing next to what appears to be livestock. Exactly what is happening in this picture is a mystery. This painting has that “look” and will be a cherished part of any serious Italian watercolor collection.
