Stunning original watercolor by listed Ohio artist Anna P. Oviate (Anna P. Oviatti). This work dates to about 1900, likely even earlier, and was apparently part of an exhibition (label on the verso). The label gives the title of the painting as "October". It measures 16 x 20 inches and was executed on a heavy illustration type cardboard support. Excellent condition with no stains or tears. The frame is original to the painting and has the old label affixed to the upper left corner. This painting will shipped without the glass, thus the glass is NOT included. The painting is not signed on the front, but the label on the back clearly states the name of the artist and this painting is consistent with her work. A very pleasing scene full of vivid color. Very nice depth and feel. She certainly succeeded in capturing the mood and feel of an Ohio Autumn day. A remarkable painting all the way around. Oviate's work is seldom seen on the market. This offering is a unique opportunity to add a quality work by an under appreciated woman artist. She is listed in Who Was Who in American Art.
