Offering this original, unframed, watercolor by the listed New Orleans, Louisiana artist Tom Lane. Signed by the artist in the lower right corner. Excellent condition. Measures 11 ¼ by 15 1/8 inches. This is one of the best Lane watercolors that I have scene. Titled Rue Royale (Royal Street). This work has everything you could hope for in a Lane painting of an iconic New Orleans street scene. The colors in this one are fabulous! A must for any serious collector of this artist's work. You will not be disappointed.
Tom Lane, who worked for more than 30 years in the French Quarter in New Orleans, was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 7, 1916 and died in New Orleans, LA on October 7, 1991. Known best as a French Quarter artist, he worked primarily in watercolors capturing the local flavor of the Crescent City. His French Quarter street scenes are in numerous private collections throughout the United States, and in Germany, France and England and are eagerly sought out by collectors. Tom Lane also did portraits (mostly pastels) and worked in oils (mostly nudes).
