Wonderful vintage watercolor, unframed, by the California / Illinois / New York artist Ida C. Haskell. This work measures 17 1/4 by 12 1/4 inches. Signed by the artist in the lower left corner. Condition is good with minor paper residue on the verso from a previous mounting. Lightly toned around the edges from a previous matting. The bottom left corner is slighting tattered (see photo) but does not affect the viewing area. A very pleasing scene with a nice impressionistic feel to it. Haskell is a well listed artist with a strong auction record. Born in Ca. 1861, She studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, Pennsylvania Academy for the Fine Arts (PAFA), and in Paris. Haskell was active in New Orleans from 1884-1886 and in California around the turn of the century. Later lived in Brookhaven, Long Island, NY. She was a member of the National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors.
