Spectacular original antique etching titled: "Cuncti adsint meritaeque expectent praemia palmae", Let all come who by merit most deserve reward (college motto of the University College London). Other than knowing what the title means, that is all I know about the subject of this work. I have not been able to make out the artist's name signed in pencil below the plate.
The plate measurement is 5 1/2 by 9 inches approximately. The overall paper size is 11 x 15 inches. Sold unframed. Acquired as part of a larger collection of English watercolors, etchings, and drawings. Looks to date around turn of the 19th/20th century. Excellent condition.
