Stunning original etching of a hunter fighting to the death with a pack of timber wolves. Great north woods theme! This original etching (print) is signed by the artist in pencil on the left and titled on the right. I have not had any luck in making out the title, however I believe the artist is the Milwaukee, Wisconsin WI printmaker Robert A. Nelson. I am not that familiar with his work, so my attribution is only a guess. Nelson has an entry in Who Was Who in American Art and most major art reference books. The print measures 9 3/4 by 7 1/2 (matting window), 15 by 13 1/2 overall including the frame. Housed in its original frame, the backing is intact and unopened. A Brudno art supply ( Chicago, Illinois IL ) is on the back. The print is well done, note the 5 wolves in the left area of the image racing to join the attack. Incredible subject matter in this one sure to make it a conversation piece! Perfect gift for a hunter, outdoorsman, or wildlife enthusiast.
