An exceptionally colorful original landscape oil painting by the well known Hoosier artist Lola St. John. Albany Indiana (1879-1972). She studied at the Herron Art Institute and the Cincinnati Academy of Art (Ohio). Her teachers included Henry Ryan MacGinnis, Vincent Nowottny, L. H. Meakin, J. Otis Adams, and B. Steele. She won prizes at both the Muncie, IN Artists Association Exhibits and the Indiana IN State Fair, 1933-35 and 1937. Her work is represented in numerous public and private collections. Known best as a landscape painter, china painter and designer. A nice example of this artist's best work.
This particular painting is an oil on a masonite panel housed in the original period frame. Measures 18 by 14 (actual painting size). Fine condition with no noted flaws. Signed with the artist's distinctive monogram in the lower right corner of the painting.
