Elegant 19th century lady's work table in Mahogany with fruit tree interiors and mirrored lid. This supremely elegant piece was acquired in Kent, England while we lived there.
The figured mahogany wood used on the tabletop truly takes center stage! The design is a great classic: a flat surface meant to show the wood pattern edged with a perfectly executed beaded frieze and finished with a well proportioned beveled trim. The spindle legs are tightly turned in concentric circles and are linked with a turned symmetrical spindle stretcher. The feet have a pleasant curvature and profile, and stand on very small brass castors.
The top interior is lined with a fruit tree wood veneer with a satin finish. Meant to contrast beautifully in color with the mahogany tones of the body the interior functions like a treasure box with various side compartments in two sizes. The inside lid is equipped with a mirror. This piece would be perfect as a make-up table and would be a good place to keep your fun jewelry pieces. The top section is concealed as a fake drawer and is matched by a second drawer right below it. The key is missing. A tapered slide bin provides storage underneath.
The table is 23" wide by 16" deep by 30" high. The table stands 44" high with the lid open. The table weighs 24lbs
