One of the new acquisitions of antique hunting in France.

A great antique & silver seal stamp, tender from shape with ornaments in the center and a mascaron ornament at the top. A mascaron is used from ancient times, it was architetutale ornament that could be human or animal or a fantasy. These faces were used to decorated French houses during the period from 1850 till 1915. But if we go back in history we find German stoneware jugs with this kind of decorations in the period 1650-1700. The seal stamp is from a later date, probely around 1895-1915, the Art Nouveau period. The seal itself is a nice coat of arms but unknow to me. The item has three silver hallmarks, all three hard to read or even to find back. One is a Mercurius head. Item can be polised but I prefer it likes this. It gives more detail tot he decoration.
Measurements:
High: 3.15 inch = 8,9 cm
Seal wide: 0.79 inch = 2 cm
