Marcel Goupy (1886-1954), was a painter and watercolourist before he moved to his passion for glass and ceramics.
With his diploma from the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs de Paris, he met gallery owner Georges Rouard in 1909, for whom he supplied designs for decorations on glass.
In 1914 his first enamelled pieces were created and in 1919 he became headdecorator, and later artisticdirector of the "Cristallerie de la Paix on the Boulevard de l'Opéra, which he remained until the end of his life. Here one found work by great designers with names such as Delaherche, Decoeur, Mayodon and Lenoble for ceramics, René Lalique, Maurice Marinot, Henri Navarre and André Turet for glassware and Decorchemont for pâtes de verre. Many of his decorations consist of plants and representations of naked women.
