Offered for purchase is a lovely vintage handbag from the 20's era. This purse is very attractive and stylish in design, with its most notable attribute being its sparkling, glass-jeweled, filigree brass frame. The bag itself is composed of a very pretty, silky, fawn-colored fabric, set in graceful folds. Though I don't believe the purse itself was made by the Neiger's, I think the frame was very likely bejeweled by them. The handle of the handbag is present in the form of a plain brass chain. The frontside of the eye-catching frame is beautifully adorned with thirty-two glass stones total, three of which are much larger than the others. The three largest glass stones are dark blue with glimmering copper flecks in them; furthermore, these stones are of elongated-oval shapes and are set in plain brass bezels encircled by filigree roping. The other twenty-nine glass rhinestones are spaced around the main blue cabs and throughout the frontside of the purse's frame; these small, variously-shaped rhinestones appear in a multitude of bright colors, including light blue, purple, dark blue, hot pink, and lavender. Twenty-seven of the above-mentioned rhinestones are set in sawtooth-edge brass bezels. The backside of the brass frame features amazingly-detailed brass filigree designs; within these designs one can discern flowers, spades, and fleurs. The handbag's closure is a picturesque one, made up of a sphere-shaped brass knob and a decorative brass filigree opening for the knob to fit through. The spacious interior of the purse is nicely lined with light green fabric. There is a handy pocket on the inside of the purse, along with a conveniently attached, circular-shaped mirror, ideal for checking one's makeup. From the top of the brass closure to the bottom of the fabric portion of the purse, it measures 7 1/2 inches in length; additionally, the purse measures 8 9/16 inches in width at its widest point. The brass chain handle measures 6 3/4 inches in length on either side, for a total chain length of 13 1/2 inches. Whether worn on a special occasion or kept safe at home, this wonderful accessory is a treasure either way.
Condition: good vintage. Please kindly note that this item is approximately 100 years old, and, therefore is not in perfect condition. There are no chips, cracks, or scratches on any of the glass pieces. The sawtooth-edge brass bezel of one tiny, circular, dark blue rhinestone is slightly bent; this stone is located directly above the large, center-most, dark blue oval stone. While the brass closure of the purse functions fairly well and normally, it is not incredibly tight when shut; even with this noted physicality, the purse still remains perfectly wearable. There is verdigris throughout the brass frame and chain of the purse. The outside-fabric of the bag is somewhat lightly frayed in some areas, though there are no major places of concern. There are some minute stain spots upon the backside of the bag; these stains are not very noticeable, though. The interior of the purse likewise has some small stained spots along the ruffled edge of the fabric. The mirror within the handbag is in very good condition and reflects images clearly and well.
