A set of four English Coalport Imari pattern plates circa 1820. The pattern features a jardiniere filled with stylized flowers in the tradition of the Japanese factory kilns established in Arita around 1650. Japanese pottery was very popular in Europe during this period and several European porcelain manufacturers endeavored to emulate the Japanese wares.
CONDITION: Very good. A few surface scratches and discoloration due to age or manufacture. Not all the plates are identical due to the vagaries of the hand manufacture methods.
DIMENSIONS: Diameter approximately 9 5/8 inches x 1 1/4 inch high
WEIGHT: 4 pounds 4 ounces for all four plates
