Description: An English George III, flame mahogany, fitted decanter box with six cut glass bottles for liqueurs, such as creme de menthe and creme de cacao.
This portable, curved hinged box is in the shape of a roll-top desk of the period. Many of the liqueurs may have served double-duty as medicinals, restoratives and digestifs during the 18th c. Faceted, blown glass decanters.
Condition: Very good for its age. There is a slight, natural darkening around the top figured wood. One bottle has a wedge of glass lost around the rim. The mushroom stoppers fit high and are particular to each bottle although they appear to be original. Has the key in a good lock. Nice, original patina.
Dimension: 9 inches high x 11 inches wide x 7 inches deep.
Weight: 8 pounds, 11 ounces.
