A fine and unusual Japanese hand-painted blue and white stoneware bowl. This bowl, of irregular multi-sided form.Stoneware is fired at a relatively high temperature but below that of porcelain. Stoneware objects are often preferred by Japanese connoisseurs over porcelain in the context of originality and spontaneity. It has a blue painted and drip design over cream-white slip. This piece is probably mid-century and is signed but I haven't been able to identify the artist.
Dimensions: approximately 5 1/2 inches high x 9 inches wide.
Weight: 2 pounds.
