Antique German Friedr. Bayer & Co yarn dyer’s sample catalogue, c.1900. This is an interesting early manual for acid and basic dyes on wool yarn from Bayer & Co, before the company became involved in pharmaceuticals. This is an interesting reference and insight into the kinds of chemical dyes that were used at the time. There are 35 intact pages bound between board covers. The pages have yellowed and aged. There are a dyer’s hand-written notes on some pages. The yarn samples have frayed on some pages, but remarkably the colors still are vivid and intense, perhaps testament to the chemical recipes employed. Condition is as shown. 6 5/8” x 8 ¼”.
