Victorian English pottery jars with product advertising transfer-printed in black, c.1890. The small pot once held Sainsbury’s own supermarket brand of Bloater Fish Paste, while the Allen & Hanburys pharmaceutical pot was filled with their Bynol brand, Malt and Cod Liver Oil remedy. These are interesting examples of packaging and advertising from a former era, and both come in clean and usable condition. The small Bloater Paste pot, is a particularly nice as a repurposed table salt pot.
Condition: Excellent antique condition with acceptable wear that includes a small amount of exterior glaze loss near the base of the Bloater pot, and minor wear to the rim of the Bynol pot.
Size: Bloater pot measures 2 5/8” in diameter and 1 ½” in height. The Bynol pot is 2 ¾” in diameter and 4 ½” in height.
