19th century English miner’s leather helmet fashioned from hardened cowhide. This one is thought to have been worn by Cornish tin miners in the 1800’s, though similar helmets were probably also worn by French and other European miners etc. In any case, this fabulous hat is an odd and interesting bygone originating from an industrial era. It is in the very least a visually pleasing collectible object and a decorative period ornament. The leather remains rigid and intact. The creases in the brim are an intrinsic part of its molded form. It comes in excellent, antique condition. There are no holes or tears in the leather.
