Antique French manuscript accounts books: A collection of record-keeping journals / ledgers, that documents the business of a cotton dyer. There are four books, each with 98 page entries that date from 1815 to 1825. The entries include daily accounts of services rendered in the books of red and blue tints, as well as purchase accounts of cotton and coal. Some transactions are crossed out, and others have the corrections attached. Included are loose leaf notes found inserted between pages. The collection is a trove of handwritten records of textile-related commerce that provides historical insight into the kinds of businesses conducted during the reign of Louis XVIII.
