RARE 19th century English “Fry’s Pure Concentrated Cocoa” plate, with transfer-printed advertising printed underneath the glaze, and manufactured by Copeland. The plate is the size of a bread, or side plate, and features a wonderful illustration of a cocoa branch bearing pods in the center. There is an impressed Copeland mark on the back that dates from 1860. Impressed date marks “Y” and “92” narrow the date of manufacture down to 1892. Apart from a small glaze flake in the rim, condition is otherwise near-perfect. Plate measures 6 ¾” in diameter.
