Late 19th century, southern Italian, glazed terracotta preserve jar. Unpretentious in its form and appealing for its neutral tone, this large hand-formed rustic pot has a yellow-tinged, buff-colored glaze, and simple green fern decoration. There is a hairline that extends down from the rim, as shown in the images. Condition is clean and otherwise excellent with minor general wear. No restoration.
Size: 10 ½” height. 8 ¼” diameter. Maximum width including handles is 11”.
