18th century French blown glass pharmacy leech jar. This example is smaller-sized, heavy jar of free-blown, and slightly irregular form, with a flared broad rim, and an applied solid glass stemmed base with a rough pontil scar underneath. Tiny air bubbles are visible in the footed base. As is sometimes the case, the interior of this bowl is found to be clouded and the cloudiness here extends uniformly to the brim, as shown. There are also plenty of visible scratches inside the bottom of the bowl. Condition overall is good and acceptable with visible signs of honest wear.
11” high. Rim diameter is 6 ½”. Base diameter is 5 ½”.
