Late 19th century, Victorian-era, pair of English Craven Dunnill & Co, decorative panel tiles. These two large tiles formed part of the company’s “figural panel” series and were marketed as being suitable for wash stand backs, cabinet work and interior decoration. These feature scenes of a monk or friar, studiously consulting bibles in one panel, and the wine barrel in the other. Both tiles are unused and come in excellent condition with very negligible wear in the form a tiny glaze flake along the edge of one, and glaze crazing on both.
