Mid-19th century, RARE English toleware Neck Wool canister, originating from a Victorian-era barber shop. Large and heavy tole painted canister with white, hand-painted lettering, over a dark navy blue ground. It still retains its original contents that thread through the opening in the domed lid. Early seamed construction and a broad base.
Condition: Original antique condition. Clean and well-preserved with general wear, particularly to the lid and base, as shown. No restoration.
Size: 12” high. Base is 9” in diameter.
