Late 19th century, Victorian English small wicker sewing basket and contents. This is both a beautiful and a charming small sewing basket lined with what is now faded blue pleated silk and a padded blue velvet base. The interior has a divider and various compartments to house the contents that include: 2 mother-of-pearl buckles, a bone winder, a set of mother-of-pear buttons, 2 mother-of-pearl hook fasteners, a packet of sewing needles, 5 reels of sewing thread, scissors, crochet hooks, and a set of snap fasteners (Made in France for export).
Condition: Both the basket and contents come in excellent condition with the basket weave completely intact and structurally sound. The silk lining has faded in places but is otherwise in very good condition.
Size: Basket measures 11 ¾” x 9” x 4” depth. Height with handle is 9”.
