Early 19th century French hand-blown glass cornichons preserving jars. Three of the jars are dark green-colored glass, and one is amber-colored (labeled as “C"). These jars are particularly pleasing for their organic, slightly unrefined, and slightly lopsided forms. Particularly pleasing is the wonderful irregularity found along the top rims. The inherent features of hand-blown glass is present in all four jars, and includes the following: An uneven thickness in the glass, striations, a rough pontil scar on the base, air bubbles and inclusions. The jars are heavy.
Condition: Each jar comes in excellent antique condition with acceptable minor wear. There is excellent clarity in each of the jars (please disregard camera glare) and there are no chips or significant damage. There are scuffs and scratches on the surface of most jar.
