Four Victorian early-19th century anatomical lithographs of human muscles by W. Fairland, and one by C. Hullmandel (after the artist M.J. Walsh). The plates, numbered 35 -38 were printed by Graf and Soret for Taylor and Walton, Booksellers and Publishers to The Univeristy of London, Upper Gower Street. They appeared in the book: "The Muscles of The Human Body. A Series of Plates, With References and Physiological Comments". Published in 1836 and edited by Jones Quain, M. D. Professor of Anatomy and Physiology in The University of London.
Condition: Very good antique condition with an acceptable degree of age-related wear that includes some foxing, and minor creases and small tears. Plate 36 is cloth-backed partial and was a fold-out page.
Size: Plates 35, 37 and38 are 19 ¾" x 12 ½". Plate 36 is 19 ¾"x 13".
