Here is a stunning example of a German bisque head doll from the early 1900's. She was made in Germany by the company of Gans and Seyfarth between 1908 and 1921. She is on a fully jointed composition body. The body has been repainted and the balls on the shoulders have been reinforced. All the sockets on the body are sound with no excessive wear. She has glass sleep eyes with full eyelashes. The head has an open mouth with inset teeth. She is wearing an antique dress with a matching slip and bloomers. The are likely original to the doll. The fabric of the dress has multicolored slubs woven in like a Shantung fabric. These are the darker specks you see all over the dress. When I got the doll I broke out my lint roller and clothes brush trying to get the dress clean until I looked closer and realized the specks were woven into the fabric. The fabric of the dress is soft and is likely cotton or possibly a cotton silk blend. The wig is a vintage synthetic replacement as are the shoes and socks.

Measurements

The doll is 24 inches tall

Marks

Condition of Doll for Sale

The bisque head has been examined under black light and is perfect with no chips, cracks, rubs or repaint. The wax on the eyes is intact but it has some chips and the eyelashes appear to have been enhanced. The clothes are in good shape with no foxing, stains, rips or repairs.

Note: For bisque head dolls I use USPS "Special Handling Fragile" service which provides separate handling for packages. The charge is $12.10 which is added to the insurance charge in the Ruby Lane shipping summary. I feel this extra charge is appropriate to insure trouble free shipping of your fragile purchases.

The doll may have wear and flaws seen in used dolls. I try to describe significant flaws in my text and show them in picture. Read the text and examine the pictures to be sure you understand the dolls condition. If you have questions please email me.
