Description of Doll for Sale
This is a great example of an early Kestner 168 bisque head doll. The doll was made in Germany around 1900. This is an early example of the doll with the square cut molded teeth. She is on her original ball jointed composition and wood body with its original finish. The doll has a nice replacement human hair wig.
She is wearing a well made antique dress with a full slip, bloomers and corset. The dress is very unusual and hooks down the front. The dress has an attached waistcoat that hooks at the waist. She has a nice pair of vintage replacement shoes and socks.
The doll is 21 inches tall
The head is marked with the Kestner Alphabet Mark: E 168 9
There is also a latter pencil mark that is probably an inventory number from a shop that sold her.
Condition of Doll for Sale
The bisque head is perfect with no chips, cracks, rubs or repaint. The wax on the eyes is intact but it has darkened some. The body has its original finish with no cracks, crazing, repairs or repaint. The clothes are in good shape with no foxing, stains, rips or repairs.
Note: For bisque head dolls I use USPS "Special Handling Fragile" service which provides separate handling for packages. The charge is $11.15 which is added to the insurance charge in the Ruby Lane shipping summary. I feel this extra charge is appropriate to insure trouble free shipping of your fragile purchases.
The doll may have wear and flaws seen in used dolls. I try to describe significant flaws in my text and show them in picture. Read the text and examine the pictures to be sure you understand the dolls condition. If you have questions please email me.
