The Doll Fixer
is now SOLDDescription of Doll for Sale
This is a beautiful example of a bisque head doll made in Germany by Alt, Beck & Gottschalk (ABG). She is their mold 1362 and is usually referred to as "Sweet Nell". She was distributed in the US by George Borgfeldt as "My Girlie". Sweet Nell dates from the 1920's. She has an open mouth with inset teeth and glass sleep eyes. Her body has it's original factory finish and she is wearing her original factory dress underwear and oilcloth shoes. She has her original human hair wig. The felt hat is vintage but may not be original as it looks a little too big for her. The socks may also be vintage replacements. There is an old tag pinned to the skirt by a previous owner. It shows a date of 1893 for the doll. While Alt, Beck & Gottschalck was making dolls at this time the 1362 mold number was not registered until 1914 and the ABG scroll mark was not seen until 1920.
