Description of Doll for Sale
This is a beautiful example of a parian head doll made in Germany in the late 1890's by Alt Beck and Gottschalk ABG. The head is marked with the number 136 and Germany and is an original antique. It has blonde (Cafe Au Lait) molded hair. In the 1940's the doll went to Emma Clear's Humpty Dumpty Doll hospital for some work. She has a replacement body, corset, hands and feet. The body has the Humpty Dumpty doll hospital label. The replacement corset is very detailed and is better made than some of the antique corsets I see. The hands and feet are also Emma Clear replacements. The body is styled like the antique originals but is new materials (1940's) and should easily last another 100 years or longer.
The dress and underwear are antique and feature a lot of hand sewing and early machine sewing. They are of the era when the original doll was made and could be original to the doll. There is a gold clasp at her neck to serve as a broach. The shirt is actually a piece of antique lace pined to her bosom. The hair has a kiln speck that came from the factory.
