Description of Doll for Sale
This is a nice example of a character baby made by Hertel Schwab & Co in the 1920's. It is their model 152 head that was made exclusively for Louis Wolf & Co. August Hertel and Heinrich Schwab were artists that founded Hertel Schwab to make heads for other German and American doll makers. Louis Wolf was an American distributor that assembled and sold dolls in the US.
This doll is an great character face with an open mouth with inset teeth and a molded tongue. The character head has a deeply molded features with an expressive mouth and a little fat roll under the chin. It also has working sleep eyes. The body has it's original finish and has great molded details in the arms and hands and little fat roles in the legs just like a plump real baby. It is wearing a vintage wool slip and a christening dress made of the finest Egyptian cotton. The doll has a replacement mohair wig.
The doll is 20 inches tall laying flat on it's back and 14 1/2 inches tall sitting.

Condition of Doll for Sale
The bisque head is perfect with no chips, cracks or repaint. There are some rubs on the cheeks. The wax on the eyes is intact. The body has its original finish with no cracks, crazing, repairs or repaint. There are some scuff marks on the legs. The clothes are in good shape with no foxing, stains, rips or repairs. There are some small moth holes in the slip.
