Description of Konig Wernicke Doll for Sale
Here is a great example of an antique bisque head baby doll made in Germany by Konig Wernicke. She is in an original composition body and is 13 inches long. She has glass sleep eyes with an open mouth with a wobble tongue. She was made in the early 1900's possibly up to the 1920's. She is wearing a stunning antique cutwork baby dress. The dress is likely original to the doll. The dress is if the highest quality with detailed cutwork design and embroidery. Under the dress she is wearing an antique button crotch onesie made from very fine Egyptian cotton. Over the dress she is wearing a knit sweater, cap and matching knit booties. The sweater, bonnet and booties are at least vintage but were likely hand made for this girl.
The head is marked as follows:
Made // in // Germany // 99 / 4
Condition of Doll for Sale
The bisque head is perfect with no chips, cracks, rubs or repaint. The wax on the eyes is intact but it has darkened some. The body has its original finish with no cracks, crazing, repairs or repaint. There are some paint chips around the neck and body joints. The antique clothes are in good shape with no foxing or stains. The dress has some holes and the booties have some holes.
Note: For bisque head dolls I use USPS "Special Handling Fragile" service which provides separate handling for packages. The charge is $10.95 which is added to the insurance charge in the Ruby Lane shipping summary. I feel this extra charge is appropriate to insure trouble free shipping of your fragile purchases.
The doll may have wear and flaws seen in used dolls. I try to describe significant flaws in my text and show them in picture. Read the text and examine the pictures to be sure you understand the dolls condition. If you have questions please email me.
