Description of Doll for Sale
For your pleasure a stunning example of a character faced bisque head baby doll by Kammer Reinhardt (K & R). This doll was made in Germany in the early 1900's to 1920's and is 20 inches long. The doll is on a 5 piece composition baby body. The head was fired by Simon Halbig based on a design master head provided by Kammer Reinhardt (K star R). The doll has glass sleep eyes and inset teeth and tongue. She is wearing a replacement mohair wig.
The doll is wearing a vintage cotton and lace baby dress and a knit sweater and bonnet. Under the dress is a slip diaper and matching knit booties. The sweater, bonnet and booties are likely newer than the baby dress.
The Simon Halbig mark is on the head because they fired the head from a master head made by Kammer Reinhardt. Kammer Reinhardt actually assembled and sold the doll.

Condition of Doll for Sale
The bisque head is perfect with no chips, cracks, rubs or repaint. The wax on the eyes is intact. The sleep eyes sometimes stick in the closed position. a gentile tap on the head easily loosens them. The body has its original finish with no chips or cracks one finger was cracked and may have been glued. There is paint wear on the tips of some fingers exposing hints of the darker composition structure of the hand and some repaint on the palm of one hand. . The vintage clothes are in good shape with no foxing, stains, rips or repairs.
