Description of Doll for Sale

This is a beautiful example of an antique Kammer Reinhardt 127 Bisque Head toddler doll. He is 13 1/2 inches tall and is on a nice 5 piece composition slant hip toddler body. This character doll was made in Germany around 1914.

This character doll was assembled and sold by Kammer Reinhardt using a head they contracted Simon Halbig to fire based on master model Kammer Reinhardt provided. Sometimes you see this doll described as a Simon Halbig character doll because they fired the head. Since the head was made only for Kammer Reinhardt it is more accurate to say it is a Kammer Reinhardt doll.

The doll has been redressed in a wonderful professionally made outfit. The short shirt and pants with suspenders and the cap with a tassel reminds me of a French peasant's outfit. The outfit was made using antique and vintage materials and trim and has exquisitely detailed workmanship right down to the embroidered design added to the pants cuff. The leather wingtip shoes are a work of art with the soles sewn on (not glued) and double stitching details around the ankles and on the leather overlays.

Marks
Head Mark : K star R // Simon Halbig // 127
The K star R mark is for Kammer Reinhardt who made the doll. The Simon Halbig shows they fired the head for Kammer Reinhardt.

Condition of Doll for Sale

The bisque head is perfect with no chips, cracks or repairs. The face painting, lips and painted brows and lashes are in great shape. The hair painting is in great shape with no rubs or repainting. The body has been expertly repainted. There is no paint wear on the fingers or toes and no signs of broken or replaced fingers. The paint has stuck some to the insides of the underwear.
The material of the clothes are sound with no repairs or foxing. There is a large stain on the front of the shirt. I have not tried to clean it. The material is sound so it could be given a gentle hand washing. I will leave that to the new owner to attempt. The eye lid wax is intact with some chipping on the edge of the wax. The wax has also darkened some especially on the left eye.

The doll may have wear and flaws seen in used dolls. I try to describe significant flaws in my text and show them in picture. Read the text and examine the pictures to be sure you understand the dolls condition. If you have questions please email me.
