Description of Toddler Doll for Sale
This is the ultimate expression of a cute antique German character face bisque head toddler doll. She is a Kammer Reinhardt number 122 and is 16 inches tall and was made in the early 1900's. She was made in Germany and sold by Kammer Reinhardt using heads made for them by Simon Halbig. Most Kammer Reinhardt dolls were made using heads they contracted Simon Halbig to make resulting in the dual markings. Sometimes this doll is listed as a Simon Halbig doll because they made the head. Since this head was made exclusively for Kammer Reinhardt it is more appropriate to list it as a Kammer Reinhardt doll.
This doll is on the less commonly seen ball jointed slant hip toddler body. She has wonderful flirty sleep eyes and a treble tongue. This toddler is wearing her original antique outfit consisting of a dress with matching bonnet, a full slip with matching bloomers. The antique outfit is topped off with knit socks and a pair of over the top oilcloth shoes with pompoms. The shoes are so detailed that they even have tiny aglets on the ends of the laces. Under the cute bonnet she has a vintage replacement human hair wig full of curls.
Head Mark: K ✡ R, Simon Halbig, 122
The head is marked for Kammer Reinhardt which made and sold the doll with the Simon & Halbig inscription showing that they made the head used in this doll. This shows the tight inter-working relationships many German doll makers had with their competitors. long after this doll was made Kammer Reinhardt ended up buying the Simon & Halbig company
Condition of Doll for Sale
The bisque head is perfect with no chips, cracks or repairs. The body has it's original antique paint finish with some paint chips and cracks in the paint. The underlying composition structure is sound. The dress and underwear are in good condition with no stains rips or repairs. There are signs of an vintage repair to two fingers on the left hand. If this is a break an expert repair was done and it is almost unnoticeable except for the enlargements I did for the listing. The tin sleep eye lids have yellowed and the paint is chipped along the edges. There may also be some minor touch up of the eyelid paint.
