This is a cute example of a German Simon & Halbig 1160 bisque head doll house doll commonly referred to as a little woman doll. This antique doll was made in Germany in the early 1900's and is 9 1/2 inches tall. This doll is all original with a sewn on factory dress and original wig. This doll features full length bisque arms with bent elbows joined to the cloth body high up by the shoulders instead of the shorter bisque forearms usually seen on a S&H 1160. She has set glass eyes.
She is wearing an original antique factory outfit consisting of a silk dress, horsehair/gauze slip, A lace trimmed slip, chemise and matching lace trimmed bloomers. Quite an outfit for such a small doll. I assume the horsehair slip was intended to serve as a hoop skirt to hold out her dress. It has become a little flattened from her being stored laying down. It could be fluffed up a little to display the silk dress in all it's splendor. The clothes are sewn on and the dress is fragile so I could not examine the antique cloth body directly. From what I could feel the body seems fine with the torso being a little loose like the stuffing has been compacted and settled. She displays well on a stand. This S&H 1160 is wearing her original mohair wig done up in a Madam Pompadour style with a flowered ribbon in the hair.
Head Mark: S & H, 1160
