Fantastic Victorian wooden doll carriage made in the 1870's. The pram was made by Joel Ellis in Springfield Vermont. Joel Ellis made this carriage in two sizes. This the smaller version intended for a child to use pushing their baby doll. Makes a great display for an antique baby doll. You can also have a large doll pose pushing the carriage. The carriage is all original with it's original paint and oilcloth cover with its original tassel and fringe trim. A real gem in amazing condition considering it is almost 150 years old.
The stroller has it's original black oil cloth collapsible hood with cast iron supports. The sides of the wooden carriage have a hand pained pin stripe design with a fancy swirl in the middle of the sides. There are two large wooden wheels on the back and a smaller pair on the front. They have a thin metal forged tires and wooden spokes. It has the original rug liner with the original horsehair stuffed corduroy upholstery in the back of the seat. Circa: 1870. I will remove the wheels to protect them for shipment. They are attached by a single screw in the center of the hub.
Measurements
The carriage is 40 inches long measured from handle to front wheels.
The wooden body for the carriage is 20 inches long and 9 1/2 inches wide.
The back wheels have a diameter of 14 3/4 inches and the front wheel diameter is 13 inches.
The buggy is 28 1/2 inches tall to the top of the shade.
The buggy is 16 1/4 inches wide to the ends of the axles.

Condition of Doll for Sale
Excellent original paint and condition. Normal wear to the wood and black oil cloth cover. There is wear to the back of the handle. No damage or repairs to the wheels. The metal railing around the body of the carriage has paint chips and wear and some rust. The metal frame holding the top has wear to the black paint and has rusted. Joint to allow the top to recline works smoothly. The original upholstery fabric is sound but the horsehair stuffing has stiffened and become brittle.
The item may have wear and flaws seen in used dolls. I try to describe significant flaws in my text and show them in picture. Read the text and examine the pictures to be sure you understand the dolls condition. If you have questions please email me.
