Remarkable example of Victorian seed pearl jewelry! This pin features individually-drilled and strung tiny natural seed pearls wrapped onto a mother-of-pearl frame with horse-hair. Jewelry such as this was especially popular for bridal gifts, as the pearls were associated with purity. The mother-of-pearl bases were individually made for each piece. The pin has a three-dimensional center and a dangling floral medallion. Very detailed and quite remarkable. In excellent condition with a small repair or two, very typical as this type of jewelry is delicate. The pin back is tests 14K gold. Measures 3" x 2"
