This is a 1940s marked 'Berwin Superior Typewriter, Ellcraft Industries, Inc. New York, NY, Main Office: 345 Carnegie Avenue, Kenilworth, NJ.' It is a toy litho tin toy typewriter used to mark one letter at a time with the twist of the center dial. You push down the center bar and it lifts the wheel to the paper. The only thing it would need is carbon paper or ink or whatever it needs to print. The paper needs to be advanced manually using the knob on the left of the carriage, and the carriage is returned manually by pressing the small circular button to the right of the main button, and sliding the carriage back to the right side. That button also functions as a space bar. The typewriter measures about 5" tall and the base is about 10" x 7". Untested with ink and paper - price reflects this. Condition is as seen in photos with minor scratches, rust spots, and other vintage wear.
