This is an antique Chinese infant silk embroidered lotus flower wind hat dates from the 1920s. It is 16" in circumference, hand stitched, made of a black silk fabric, with colorful varying shades of pink and gold silk raised satin stitch hand embroidered lotus flowers. The lotus flower is a symbol of purity, which rises unsullied through the muddy water. This charming child's wind hat has a back flap drape covering the back of the neck for warmth and is fully lined in a red cotton fabric, with warm padding sewn inside. The hat measures 13 inches long from the forehead to the bottom of the flap. An opening across the top is loosely stitched to allow for some head growth.
