"Bonne Heureuse Annee!" Marked 651 on the lower left corner and SIRIUS on the lower right corner. This Edwardian French postcard shows an ethereal young lady gazing directly at you.
This is a real photo postcard that has been color tinted by hand. The sweet coquette has an elaborate up-do curly hair-style adorned with a small pink flower. Her mesmerizing dark eyes and tiny Mona Lisa smile, pull your eyes into her pretty face. A romantic sepia colored scene in a side oval, framed by a spray of sepia flowers, frame her face. The coy mademoiselle is wearing a loosely draped white cotton lace-trimmed frock and is carrying a pink and white bouquet of posies. There is a hand-written "Bonne Heureuse Annee pour 1912" (Happy New Year for 1912) message across the bottom.
Size: about 3.5 by 5.5 inches. The matte surface on the front shows some gentle age. There is no stamp or cancellation. The reverse side has two panels and is in good condition with a French message in blue ink by quill from Amelie to Madame Parceau Villa in Monte Carlo.
Please remember that these Edwardian hand tinted French postcards are over 110 years old. Kindly look carefully at all of the photos which have been photographed on white background under bright studio lights to allow you to see the detail.
