Bonne Annee! (Happy Year) Marked Serie KF enclosed in a painter's pallette mark. 1159 K. F. Editeurs, Paris on the lower left quadrant on the message side. This Edwardian French postcard shows an ethereal young lady gazing at the horizon.
This is a real photo postcard that has been color tinted by hand. The sweet coquette has an elaborate up-do curly hair-style adorned with a pink ribbon tie back. Her mesmerizing dark eyes, tiny smile, and bare shoulders pull your eyes into her pretty face. Her off-the-shoulder voile gown is trimmed with pale magenta ribbons and bows. There is a cloth draped portrait frame around the coy mademoiselle. A Bonne annee calling card is pictured on the lower left quadrant on the front.
Size: about 3.5 by 5.5 inches. The matte surface on the front shows some age and there is a mark to the left of the lady inside the circular frame. This precious memory has a Republique Francaise 5 franc green stamp with a partially visible cancellation which shows Claude Bernard. While the date is not clear, it is likely 1908 to 1910. There are two additional but unreadable cancellations on the back side. The reverse side has two panels and is in good condition with a French message in light black ink by quill from Jeanine to Mary Odoull in Paris.
Please remember that these Edwardian hand tinted French postcards are over 110 years old. Kindly look carefully at all of the photos which have been photographed on white background under bright studio lights to allow you to see the detail.
