"Scotland is internationally known for its traditional music, which remained vibrant throughout the 20th century and into the 21st, when many traditional forms worldwide lost popularity to pop music...The earliest mention of bagpipes in Scotland dates to the 15th century although they are believed to have been introduced to Britain by the Roman armies. The Great Highland Bagpipe was originally associated with both hereditary piping families and professional pipers to various clan chiefs; later, pipes were adopted for use in other venues, including military marching".

This is an interesting pair of vintage Scottish memorabilia. They are hand-printed bookmarks by Maritime Blues for Carrefour Atlantic Emporium, Halifax, Nova Scotia. There is a black Scottish piper printed on an 8" x 2 1/4"woven white bookmark/hanging and a matching highland dancer. Both have white string hangers. Both are in very good condition.

These treasures from the past would be the perfect tiny gift for a special lassie/lad and/or your own special Scottish memorabilia or miniature collection. We invite you to make your own precious memories with these special highland treasures. Thank you for visiting our store.
