"Scotland is internationally known for its traditional music, which remained vibrant throughout the 20th century and into the 21st, when many traditional forms worldwide lost popularity to pop music...The earliest mention of bagpipes in Scotland dates to the 15th century although they are believed to have been introduced to Britain by the Roman armies. The Great Highland Bagpipe was originally associated with both hereditary piping families and professional pipers to various clan chiefs; later, pipes were adopted for use in other venues, including military marching". Highland lassies have a spritely type of dancing to bag pipe music.

This is a beautiful 1970s 8 1/2" tall x 4 1/2" wide musical Schmid Bros. (Japan) Scottish Highland Dancer Lassie Rotating Music Box made of porcelain. The piper turns around to the music. The music box & rotating figure mechanism work perfectly and plays "Blue Bells of Scotland". It is in good vintage condition, with no chips, cracks, or crazing.

This treasure from the past would be the perfect gift for a special lassie and/or your own special music box or Scottish memorabilia collection. We invite you to make your own precious memories with this unique treasure. Thank you for visiting our store.
