An extremely high quality vintage (Circa 1920 /30) 18 karat white gold old cut diamond & natural ruby 3/4 eternity ring with 14 graduating old cut diamonds and natural red rubies all pave set in a plain white gold band which tapers to the back. The ring measures approx 6 mm at its widest and tapers to approx 3mm to the back. A solid and weighty ring at 5.8 grams.

The above are calculated based on the table diameter spread. As the stones are mounted, the above carat weights are estimates.

Please Note: Old Cut diamonds have less diameter"spread" than modern brilliant cuts of the same carat weight. This is due to the deep pavilion (point) the chunky high crowns and table facets and the thick girdles which all add to the total carat weight.

Estimated Diamond TCW = 0.93 Carats Estimated Ruby TCW = 1.14 Carats Estimated Total Carat Weight Combined = 2.07 Carats

According to GIA: "People in the trade expect rubies to have at least some inclusions because inclusion-free rubies are practically nonexistent" As these rubies are unusually clean from internal inclusions I decided to have them tested and certified. An Anchor Gem Lab certificate will be included with the sale of the ring verifying the largest ruby to be real and natural. This is common practice with multiple stone rings as it costs a fee for each gem, gemologist advise to certify the largest gem on the basis that if the largest gem is real the smaller ones will be too. As the photos & video demonstrates the quality of both the diamonds and the rubies set in this ring are exceptional, the diamonds being colourless and full of fire and the rubies being a good strong saturation and almost clean from natural internal inclusions. When worn in all light environments, the diamonds emit all the colours of the rainbow and the rubies catch the light around their table facets. It's a significant ring which I would image will attract a lot of admiration.

Old White Gold: The beauty of old English white gold is that it retains its whiteness never needing Rhodium plating like modern white gold needs. This is because in the earlier part of the century, different alloys were used to mix with gold than what are used in white gold today. This ring is decades old and needed nothing more than a clean and polish by myself to restore it to what you see in the photos and videos in this listing which were all shot using window light only.

Diamond Clarity & Cut: All of the seven diamonds are old cuts with open Culets (points) chunky crowns and small table facets. As mentioned above, they are all very clean with no black carbon spots or indeed any significant inclusions that could be found with a 10 x loupe. (magnifying device) They offer excellent transparency with interior facets easily seen and are a beautiful colourless white and well matched. Even indoors by window light they provide strong refraction (fire). Like all diamonds they are their liveliest under electric lights.

The Rubies are equally premium quality with a strong pinky red saturation and good transparency. Unlike most natural rubies, these are especially clean from internal inclusions with just the odd dark or transparent crystal found in a few. The principle ruby has more of a red hue than the others when examined with a 10 x loupe but to the naked eye this is not glaringly obvious.
As always the diamonds have been tested by two independent electric diamond testers for their authenticity.

Rubies: Rubies are the most valuable members of the corundum family. Large gem-quality rubies can be more valuable than comparably sized diamonds and are certainly rarer. There is a relative abundance of smaller, 1-3 carat blue sapphires compared to the scarcity of even small gem-quality rubies. As a result, even these smaller stones are relatively high in value. Rubies represents the month of July and considered the king of gems and represent love, health and wisdom. It was believed wearing a fine red Ruby bestowed good fortune on its owner. A Ruby is the most valuable gemstone and its value increases based on its colour and quality.

Condition: The 18 karat gold shank is in good used condition with no signs of thinning to the back. No restoration work required to the shank or the pave setting. All of the 14 gems are all securely set and none move when manipulated. Some of the diamonds and Rubies have minor nicks or surface scruffs but nothing significant. There is evidence of shank resizing to the shank.

Genuine Vintage: When browsing for a vintage ring be sure that the ring is authentic and that you are working with a reputable dealer. There are a lot of vintage style designs on the market that are made to look like old rings–but they're simply vintage-inspired. Be sure to ask the dealer if their designs are authentic vintage/antique. Old rings can increase in value over time whereas re-creations do not.

Ring Size = R 1/2 - US - 9 (Can be resized by any working Jeweller) Estimated Diamond Colour = J/K Estimated Diamond Clarity = VS/SI2/Si1 Weight = 5.8 Grams

Hallmarks: Due to the re-sizing of the shank and the fact the ring is a 3/4 eternity with only a small area of plain gold to the back, any stamps would have been removed as a result of the resizing process. Tests as 18 karat gold.
