Shaker Society Mount Lebanon New York Village Community antique child's berry bucket - small brown wooden pail - measures only 4-1/2-inches x 5-1/2-inches. Bail handle is set in diamond escutcheons with scribe mark on the grip. From the Mount Lebanon, New York Community, it is very old and shows evidence of much use, but is in very sound condition.
NOTE: This bucket shows very fine workmanship. Gaps between staves on the outside have been filled with very narrow wood splint shims. There are three places near the bucket rim where the shims have broken and small sections are missing. These are not cracks, and do not affect the inside inside integrity of the bucket.
Came from a private Boston collection sold at auction in New Lebanon, NY in 2002.
A very old Shaker small pail of this size is a rare find.
