Vintage early American hand-carved wooden trencher from western Massachusetts in old mottled blue gray paint is exceptionally large - 38" long x 18" wide x 7" high - hand carved out of a single piece of wood - probably birch. The size alone attests to its age - most large trees were long gone in New England by the 1830s.
Very nice condition. Interior is "worm wood" which adds to its character and charm. Long crack on the underside does not invade the interior of the vessel; and does not affect its structural integrity.
