c1908 divided back postcard features the SS Ransom B. Fuller (1902-c1935) New England Yankee coastal steamship sailing on the Kennebec River in Maine. The Ransom B. Fuller was built in 1902 by the New England Company in Bath, Maine for the Eastern Steamship Corporation of New York. In 1910, her size was lengthened for operations between Portland, Maine and Boston, Massachusetts. She ran aground in the Kennebec River in 1912. During World War I she was leased by the United States Navy in November 1917 to serve as a barracks ship at New London, Connecticut. It was returned to the Eastern Steamship Company in April 1918. She was reportedly scrapped in 1935.

Unused divided back card No. 25219 made in Frankfort, Germany for the Hugh C. Leighton Co., (1906-1909) of Portland. Leighton was as a printer and major publisher of national view-cards, especially scenes of New England. They printed most of their cards in four distinct styles usually employing tinted halftones. Most of their cards had a subdued but recognizable pallet. They merged with Valentine & Sons in 1909.

CONDITION NOTE: VINTAGE BUT UNUSED. PLEASE EXAMINE THE PHOTOS CAREFULLY. Unused divided back postcard in excellent condition for its age – but not perfect. No tears or creases. Corners are only very slightly blunted, and there is some wear on the edges. Back is very clean with few marks other than the pencil notation along the top margin, generalized surface wear, and very light soiling and/or age discoloration on the edges. ANY FLAWS ARE OBVIOUS IN THE PHOTOS.
